Water

The Chinese Algae Eater prefers warmer water from 73 to 80 degrees F (22-26 degrees C). If the water temperature drops below 70 degrees F (20 C) the fish will still live, but will stop eating until it warms up.

The pH levels can vary from 6 to 8 but it must be kept in fresh water since any amounts of salt can make it ill.

This fish can grow up to a foot long and this should be considered when buying one for your aquarium. They will need space to grow and live in as they are a very active fish which swims around a lot. They are also jumpers and may jump out of your aquarium if it is not covered by a lid.
