Water

Zebra Danio like their water between 65 and 75 degrees F (17 to 25 degrees C). This will allow you to keep them in aquarium without heaters in most places, although they will like it better in warmer waters.

Although they are fresh water fish they can do with some salt, about 1 tablespoon for every 20 gallons of water. The pH level should be around 7 as well.

Keeping live plants in your aquarium will encourage danios to spawn in them, and will provide food for young fry. Although not needed they do make the danios happier and they will not eat the plants.

Water changes should be done as with all types of fish. Changing the water removes harmful chemicals and waste products that your filter or plants may miss. Changing 10% to 20% a week is recommended.
